Privacy Policy

Last updated April 21, 2026

Last First Words is an e-reader built to respect your time and your privacy. This policy explains what the app collects, what stays on your device, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose.

What We Collect

Account information

If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed copy of your password so that you can sign in and recover your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your email and name per your Apple ID settings; we never see your Apple password.

Your library, stays on your device

Articles, EPUBs, PDFs, notes, bookmarks, reading progress, preferences, and display name are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.

What we do not collect

No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data used by third parties for advertising.

How We Use It

To run the app

Your account credentials are used to sign you in and let you recover your account. Local data powers your reading features, offline access, and personalization.

On-device intelligence

Reading summaries, recaps, and similar features are generated on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models. Your reading content is not sent to our servers or any third-party AI provider to power these features.

Sign in with Apple

Using Apple to sign in

If you choose Sign in with Apple or use iCloud-backed features, Apple services are used as described in Apple's privacy policy.

No other third parties

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or third-party trackers.

Data Retention and Security

Retention

Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your authentication record. Local data lives on your device until you remove the app or clear it yourself.

Security in transit

All network requests are made over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, never in plain text.

Security on device

Local data benefits from iOS's device-level protections, including your passcode, biometrics, and file system encryption.

Your Rights and Choices

Review and update

You can update your display name, email, password, and reading preferences from the Account screen in the app.

Access or export

To request a copy of the account data we hold, contact us at app@lastfirstwords.com.

Delete your account

You can request permanent account deletion from the Danger Zone in Account settings. This action cannot be undone. To remove all local data, delete the app from your device.

Children

Last First Words is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

Your account information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
